We support many file formats, including Adobe PDF, Photoshop, JPEG, TIFF, AutoCAD, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. The printer uses a 36 inch roll of paper that is up to 300 feet long. One dimension of your print should be 36 inches, but the other dimension can vary. Common poster sizes are 24" X 36" and 36" X 48". The machine can trim one dimension to size but staff will not help you trim the other dimension.

TIMELINE FOR PRINT COMPLETION:

  • Most of the academic year: Allow one full working day.

  • The last three weeks of each semester: Allow up to 3 full working days.

  • Summer: Allow 10 working days

Send all print requests to our office email account edhdtrc@bgsu.edu with the print file as an attachment. Or upload the file to cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Docs, etc.) and send the link to our office email account. Staff will process the print job and contact you when it is ready for pickup. (NOTE: BGSU email only allows file attachments less than 20MB and the office email account is not monitored when the lab is closed, this includes holidays and breaks.)

TEMPLATES

The PowerPoint templates below use print dimensions that are commonly printed with our poster printer. Delete the slide content and add your own text, graphics, and design. The layout can be adjusted to match your needs but do not change the slide dimensions or orientation.

TIPS:

A common issue with large posters is the use of low resolution images. You must use the highest resolution possible. Low res images will look good on screen or maybe when printed at 8.5"X11" but when they are printed at 36"X48" they will look terrible. So, no extreme cropping of high resolution images, screen captures or swiping images from web pages. They just will not work. Also, be sure to do color and white balancing on photos. See the images of the man in the templates above. The three poses of him are all in the same room with photos that contain different color and white balance settings. If your photos look a little dark or out of focus on screen, they will be much worse when printed at poster size.
