This lesson is designed to introduce the concepts of intervals and contour to general music students in grades 5-7. It names ascending intervals and asks students to count lines and spaces to determine how far apart notes are. The concluding activity is an “experiment” where students try to identify songs that have had their intervals doubled, and explore why the songs are still recognizable.
